Description: Here's a great, little piece of small format sheet music (9.25" x 12"), copyright 1919, printed by the Music Printing Company, New York. It has wonderful, patriotic, WWI graphics showing Thomas Woodrow Wilson, the New Jersey governor who became president in 1912. He, of course, won with only 42% of the vote that year, since former president Theodore Roosevelt ran as an independent on the Progressive (Bull Moose) ticket against sitting, republican president, William Howard Taft, thereby splitting the conservative vote. That allowed the democrat to get a plurality, just like in 1992 when Bill Clinton won with about that same amount. Wilson then went on to (barely) win another term, beating Charles Hughes in 1916 by a whisker, (sorry), with slogans like "He Kept Us Out Of War" and, "His Pen Is Mightier Than the Sword." He promptly led us into WWI about a month after his Inauguration, costing us 110,000 American fatalities (in only a year-and-a half - imagine if CNN was around), and also a ton of money. Those returning soldiers brought back to this country the Spanish Flu, which cost another 675,000 American lives in 1918 and '19. Yet Wilson's considered one of our "great" presidents by liberal historians, which is changing a bit because his life-long racism is finally catching up with him in this woke society. While campaigning across the country for the League of Nations after he returned from France a second time late in 1919, Wilson cut the trip short on the advice of doctors and returned to the White House. There he suffered a major stroke, finishing the last year-and-a-half of his term barely "with it," while his wife and his advisors basically ran the country. My, how history seems to repeat itself. This is in nice condition but please look at our images to judge condition for yourself so you can be happy with it. Remember, this stuff's called ephemera, folks, since it was made to be used and then discarded. So, we're just lucky to have things like this in any condition to add to our collections. Why this was stamped at the bottom "Must Not Be Sold" we don't know. Perhaps this was withdrawn from distribution for some reason. Wouldn't it look great matted in a period frame? We are members of APIC and sell only authentic presidential (and other collectible) material so buy with confidence. We'll be happy to combine S & H costs on multiple purchases. Shipping on this will be $8.50 with tracking. 8956
