2022 BLUEBERRIES Mint MNH Sheet 20 x 4¢ STAMPS: #5652, Blueberry, Fruit, Fruits

Description: This Listing is for ONE NEW Sheet of 20 Blueberries 4¢ Stamps from 2022. Mint. MNH. No flaws. From a smoke-free and pet-free environment. The U.S. Postal Service issued this 4¢ Blueberries pane of 20 adhesive stamps on January 9, 2022 in Blue Hill, ME. The stamp features a pen, ink and watercolor illustration of a cluster of blueberries and leaves by John Burgoyne of West Barnstable, MA. Though wild blueberries are abundant, the fruit was not cultivated before the 20th century. While others had tried to domesticate the plant, it was Frederick Coville, a U.S. Dept. of Agriculture scientist, who discovered, after much trial and error, that the plants thrive in acidic soil. Soon after he published his results in 1910, he began a long collaboration with Elizabeth White, a New Jersey cranberry farmer, to hybridize wild blueberries and bring to market the first fruits of this newly domesticated plant. Today, the highbush blueberry is the most widely cultivated of the blueberry species; it is grown extensively in Michigan, Georgia, Florida, Oregon, Washington, New Jersey, California, North Carolina, and many other states. It wasn't until recently that the impressive health benefits of blueberries were discovered. According to several scientific studies, here's how eating more blueberries is good for you: Blueberries have some of the highest levels of antioxidants of any fruit or vegetable. Antioxidants help prevent damage to our cells and may slow the aging process. In some studies, regular blueberry consumption was shown to help lower blood pressure and decrease the risk of heart disease. Eating more blueberries is also believed to fight brain aging and improve memory. Since they are fairly low in sugar, blueberries may be a good choice for those with diabetes or insulin resistance. In fact, early studies suggest eating more blueberries could improve insulin sensitivity and lower blood sugar. Scott # 5652 Free Shipping in the U.S. by USPS First Class
