Description: Please email with any questions. Group of three antique photos from a local estate. Circa 1890 9 3/4" by 6" cabinet photo of Main Street showing a row of commercial buildings in Hunter, North Dakota. The first building is Gale & Duffany General Merchandise & Hardware. It looks like every man in town has turned out for the photographer- including one well-dressed gent on a bicycle. The cardboard photographer's mat is missing the bottom margin and is quite brittle. Photo missing bottom left corner. The other two images in this group are 5x7 sepia gelatin-silver photographs of the interior of Gale & Duffany- perhaps the ground floor and the second floor. I think the tin ceiling is the ground floor. Creased upper right corner on on one, minor edge wear on both. These are just amazing images. Gale & Duffany was built in 1881, the FIRST store in Hunter. Cass County has a really terrific page with early images of Hunter including an 1899 photo or Main Street showing the aftermath of a devastating fire that wiped out the whole block except for Gale & Duffany. The last photo we show was digitally enhanced with adobe Photoshop the others are a the original condition.
