SNOWDEN MARSHALL FIRST EDITION FINE CONDITION PROTECTED IN A CLEAR, MYLAR DUST JACKET Original, Clean, Tight, Antique, Wrap/Booklet Official Address Delivered at The Confederate Memorial Institute Opening PUBLISHED BY THE BOARD OF MANAGERS OF THE INSTITUTE BY THE PRESS OF DIETZ PRINTING COMPANY, RICHMOND, VIRGINIA, IN 1925 This original, first edition, antique wrap/booklet presents an opening address and dedication to the Confederate Memorial Institute at Richmond, Virginia, on May 3, 1921, by H. Snowden Marshall. The author’s father served on the Staff of General Lee from about the time when General Lee took command of the Army of Northern Virginia throughout the war. His father was a Staff Officer who accompanied General Lee to meet General Grant at Appomattox and who had prepared battle reports and correspondence while on General Lee’s staff. The book presents a brief history of the causes of the Civil War, presenting the Southern viewpoint. It discusses much of the tainted history since the war, and presents the responsibility to tell the Southern side of events why they still can be recalled by those in the late war. On the occasion of its opening, the author presented this dedication of the Confederate Memorial Institute reflecting on its role to provide good, accurate history in so doing.
