Description: You are viewing a larger 26”, bisque head, should plate, kid leather, jointed gusseted body, antique doll. Only marking is “Germany “, I suspect an early Armand Marseille. I will describe head to toe. First, the wig could be original, is old, mohair, full, clean, curly with the original ribbon still tied into the back. Cardboard pate attached. The bisque head and shoulder plate are undamaged, no cracks or hairlines, I did check inside the head with a light. A lovely face, smooth creamy bisque. Blue eyes, open mouth, thick eyebrows. Eyes have the rocker/sleep mechanism, but are stuck open. Body: torso and legs are kid leather. Some patching done at the knees. The seam at the crease in the buttocks is leaking cork stuffing. Jointed at the hips, gusseted knees. Both feet replaced with kid leather. Both upper arms replaced with kidalene and pin jointed to lower bisque arms. Both bisque lower arms look original, matching and are undamaged. The back of the upper torso has been torn and pulled down to expose the only mark, “made in Germany “. To repeat there are no cracks or hairlines, what you see are hairs. The doll is dressed in antique clothing. Antique cotton under garments. The antique gown is most likely a child’s christening gown. I believe this doll is an early Armand Marseille.
