Description: 6" L x 4" W x 7/8" ThickApproximately 1 lb. 9 ounces This Native American artifact came from an estate in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho. Provenance is unknown. It has evidence of wear around the entire outer edge. The center hole is tapered from both sides. The hole was probably completed with a rawhide bow and a stick with hard sand and water. Imagine the amount of time it took to complete. A rare find and collector's piece of a lifetime. The ash handle featured in the photo is a modern reproduction (23"L) demonstrating one method of mounting a cog stone as a mace. It would have been done with rawhide, which would tighten and shrink around the stone. This handle is ash wood with a leather tie. It is included in the sale.
