Description: Up for auction is an amazing old atlas I found at an estate sale, along with several others. This is a Sanborn Insurance Map for the Borough of Queens, Vol. 6, published in 1911, with addendums pasted in for 1921. So a 10-year range of what this portion of Queens, New York City looked like in the early 20th century. Contains 110 numbered map pages so that essentially means 55 map spreads. So amazing detail of this portion of Queens, containing parts of communities like Jamaica, Ozone Park, Richmond Hill and more. Different colors indicate different types of construction, I believe for insurance purposes and fire information. I believe they're hand-colored. Amazing piece of history. It's a massive book that weighs more than 30 pounds and measures 20x27 inches. Neat map with a great low opening bid. If you're in the New York area (I'm on Long Island), I'd be willing to meet somewhere within reason for pickup. Otherwise, I believe this can be sent via media mail, which might keep the shipping cost down. Though it's so heavy, it still will cost a decent amount to ship. I've put the numbers in the calculator so that should give you an idea.
