Georgian Crystal Porcelain Hardneck Garlic When mature, this magnificent, large bulbed, Porcelain Hardneck Garlic originates from the Republic of Georgia. While it is extremely cold-hardy, it is adaptable to many climates, including many areas of the South. It is subject to few pests. Given proper growing conditions, it is a good producer with large satiny white bulbs that cover 4-6 fat cloves. The flavor of the raw cloves is more mellow than other garlics and its light, crisp flavors combine well with a variety of dishes. It is wonderful roasted. It stores up to 10 months at cool room temperature. German Red Rocombole Hardneck Garlic The origin of German Red is in question by several sources an it is possible that more than one cultivators go by the same name. Our garlic has brown cloves with light purple blotching appearing occasionally at the top of the outer wrapper. Mature garlic flavor is hot when raw and strong when cooked. Purple Glazer Purple Stripe Hardneck Garlic From the Republic of Georgia. Purple Glazer produces fat white cloves with deep purple streaks. The easy-to-peel wrappers have a satiny, silvery finish and are streaked with purple and each layer removed reveals a more intensely purple hue. The individual clove covers range from a golden brown streaked with maroon to a lighter beige with only a few streaks of purple. The Purple Glazer has a strong flavor with no heat and a minimal aftertaste. The cloves are sharp when raw, but very subtle and aromatic when cooked. On top of taste and beauty it brings a long storage life to the table. It has a deep sort of muskiness quite unlike any other garlic. The size of this Creole Garlic depends on where it is grown since it requires as much direct overhead sunlight as it can get. Italian Majestic Softneck We acquired this softneck variety several years ago by accident and were pleasently surprised by its flavor. Unlike the hardneck garlics, this garlic does not produce scapes . It is sutiable for braiding those beautiful garlic braids seen at craft shows and farm markets. This garlic is harvested about the same time as other garlics and shows that it it ready for harvest when the entire plant falls over.White Softneck Large softneck variety with a hotter flavor and nice sized cloves. Unlike the hardneck garlics, this garlic does not produce scapes . It is sutiable for braiding those beautiful garlic braids seen at craft shows and farm markets. This garlic is harvested about the same time as other garlics and shows that it it ready for harvest when the entire plant falls over. Fall planting is recommended for most gardeners and cloves can be planted anytime between September and November. We plant in mid October and Harvest in July. This is a natural product, grown by "The Garlic Fairy", without chemicals or pesticides. The outer bulb wrappers may show slight staining. This does not affect the quality of the cloves in any way. It is an indication that the bulbs have been cured naturally and cleaned by hand. The number of cloves per 1/2 lb will vary.
