Description: Before the second world war, many Dutch households had individual gasmeters through which they paid for gas by coins. From 1941, the german occupants confiscated all copper and silver coins and replaced them by a zinc coinset in divergent sizes. This was done to remove all propaganda of the Dutch monarchy as well as to gain more precious metals as spoils of war. This, in 1942, resulted in an absence of coins that could be used to feed the gas meters. To counteract this problem, this zinc coin in the size of a silver 10 cents coin was introduced by the occupants in several different municipalities. I have several pieces available. You will receive the exact same coin / token in a minimal quality of VF. The indication of quality is an estimate based on my own opinion.
