Description: Here is a truly wonderful wooden train set made by Holgate Toys in the United States. Unboxed, but looks almost brand new. I have no idea how old this particular set is, but I can tell you that I searched all over the net and could not find another example in ANY condition. A real gem for the Holgate or wooden toy collectors out there! The train consists of four pieces: an engine marked Holgate Railway Rodeo 1001 Rodeo and designed to look somewhat like a stage coach body with a boiler and smokestack out front. Then there is a Holgate 1001 Wild West and Rodeo Train car meant to be the office and the ticket booth. Then a colorful yellow car with graphics on it meant to be Western or Indian in nature. Lastly is a much longer gondola marked 1001 Rodeo and Holgate Railways. Inside of the cars were stored eighteen (18) different wooden blocks and have black stamped graphics of Western riders, animals, performers and such on them, stamped on one side only with the opposite side being blank. Plus there are four fence pieces which always seem to be missing, but they are here! A complete wooden rodeo train! The engine and two shorter cars measure about 6 1/2 inches long including couplers (the engine is just a tad longer), while the gondola is about 12 1/2 inches in length including couplers. The whole affair boxed to ship weighs in at a bit under 5 pounds! I have tried to take many photos from different angles so that you can see the beauty and fantastic condition of this item. Priced reasonably for something so involved and in such great shape, with free shipping!
