Description: Vtg Japanese Wastewater Receptacle for Tea Ceremony This is a vintage Japanese wastewater basin bowl, or kensui, used during tea ceremony. Excess water cannot be dumped back into the fresh water container, so instead, it is put in a decorative bowl that typically matches the aesthetic of the rest of the tea set. This particular piece features a beautifully detailed image of a shrimp/prawn, likely Ise ebi. It has a muted green glaze with a red floral design on the inside. There is a marker's stamp on the bottom.
