Description: A large antique Japanese Imari charger ( plate ). Japan, Meiji period, circa 1880. This is a very large and impressive antique Japanese Imari plate. ALL hand painted in polychrome enamel, in blue cobalt, red , green , orange, white and gold gilding. Decorated with flowers, in central round medallion and 6 repeating quality painted floral motifs. With blue symbols ( drawings ) at the back, as pictured ( see photo ). The gold gilding highlights decoration, gives more elegance and luxury to the work. Dimensions : Diameter : 16 inches ( 40 cm ) H : 2 inches ( 5 cm ) Weight : 5 lbs 4 oz ( 2.4 kgs ) The heavy weight reflects the thickness of the porcelain and authenticity of the piece.
