Marx GREEN Commodore Vanderbilt 0 Gauge Locomotive + O Gauge NYC Coffin Tender

Description: Here is a GREEN O gauge Marx 0-4-0 Commodore Vanderbilt heavy stamped metal steam engine with a tin New York Central 4 wheel coffin style tender! The engine is factory painted GREEN with white lettering on black background oval nameplate on the front. The earlier style threaded windup key is an original, as is the "sparkler plate" near the front of the engine (needs a new flint - see picture 14 which shows the plate). Unfortunately, the early mechanical (windup) motor does NOT work. The cast metal wheels on one side have damage from age, and the side rod on that side is long gone. This engine has the post type swiveling coupler on the back of the engine to hook to cars with Joyline couplers. It also has the threaded hole on the right side near the front, which is where they would install a battery headlight assembly (which is missing - I've seen maybe a hundred of the Joyline Vandys over the years - mostly black - and only one had those parts still there). The 6 inch 4 wheel coffin tender is on the early short wheelbase frame that was lithographed in black and silver; it has the much earlier Joyline couplers on both ends, and 4 stamped metal wheels on metal axles. Photos show the engine and tender from all 6 sides, with a yardstick in the shots for size reference, plus detail shots to show all of the various features that I have mentioned. This is one of the hardest of all of the Marx O gauge train engines to locate, and you rarely see them come up for sale. I am sure some advanced Marx collector will be happy to get even an example in this shape, as it may be years (if ever) before you get another chance at one! Priced reasonably for such a rarity, with only actual USPS Ground Advantage or Priority Mail shipping on the 2 1/4 pound package charged!
