Right from the beginning, the goal was that the quality of the watches to be produced would meet the quality requirements of the time and that all this could be maintained even with a large production volume. In 1929, the concrete establishment of the production conditions began. The location of the first watch factory was selected in Moscow on the territory of the Red Star Tobacco Factory, using the existing infrastructure. They began equipping the plant halls with precision machine tools, which were initially purchased from the American watch manufacturer Dueber-Hampton. From this company they also bought the manufacturing rights of the pocket watch mechanism that was the basis of the first completed watches. The plant was named the First State Watch Factory. (Первый Государственный Часовой Завод - 1ГЧЗ) At the end of 1930, production began, and in November, the first 50 finished watches were presented at a real press conference in the Revolutionary Theatre. Although in the early days the factory used the help of American and German technicians to organize production, after about 2 years they were able to produce independently. Almost from the beginning, the factory also produced for export, and they also started producing high-quality aircraft dashboard clocks and chronographs. In 1935, the continuously producing factory was renamed the Kirov Watch Factory (after Sergey Mironovich Kirov). By this time, pilot and observation watches, ship chronometers and various on-board and dashboard built-in clocks were being produced in large quantities. By 1939, the factory was fully equipped with machinery. So far, nearly 3 million pocket and wrist watches have been produced in the factory, primarily to meet the needs of the army. In 1941, in front of the devastation of the war, the factory was evacuated to the distant town of Zlatoust, where, in accordance with the needs of the front, they primarily made clocks for army vehicles and, of course, also took part in the production of war material. The II. After the end of the Second World War, the factory was resettled in Moscow. From then on, the name of the factory was: First Moscow Watch Factory (Первый Московский Часовой Завод - 1МЧЗ). Ammunition production ceased and production now tries to satisfy the needs of the civilian market. At that time, the product range was still primarily based on structures manufactured under license, but the engineers were already working hard on the implementation of their own ideas. In 1960, the first watches marketed under the Poljot (Полет - Flight) brand appeared in the history of the factory, and in 1961 - on the occasion of Yuri Gagarin's first space flight - the factory itself adopted the name Poljot. The factory was built in the 20th century. in the second half of the 20th century, it remained the largest and most productive Soviet watch factory until the collapse of the Soviet Union.
