Description: Smithsonian Institution 1988 Silk Scarf NIB 35"x34" Butterfly Chinese Red w/Box This is a Smithsonian Institution 1988 silk scarf that measures 35" x 34" and is in original box, never worn. The item was folded as new until I removed to photograph. The color is predominantly red and features a colorful butterfly motif all over. The box measures 8 1/2" x 8". The edges of the scarf are hand stitched. The edge of the scarf reads, "Smithsonian Institution 1988". See my close-up photo of this detail. The original sewn-in "Smithsonian Institution" label is on corner...see photo. The butterfly motif is adapted from an early 20th Century wall hanging in the Anthropological Collection of the National Museum of Natural History. The original 200x 110 cm wall hanging was presented to the Smithsonian in 1978 by Dr. Cornelius Osgood. This is a beautiful item in good order. My photos are of the actual item you are getting.
