Pitkin worked from 1858 to 1900 for optical and philosophical instrument makers in London. He worked briefly in partnership with Thomas W Short, who later founded Short & Mason. James and his son Henry J Green formed a partnership only from 1879 to 1885, which dates when this barometer was sold. It's small, 2.75 inches in diameter. and just over an inch deep. It has a brass case and weighs 0.6 pounds. It's in good working condition
