That is why I open and photograph each one.Practical Capacity : 9.2 oz (272 ml)Full Capacity : 11.5 oz (340 ml)Tea Strainer Type : Sawayaka-amiHeight (Including lid handle) : 3.39 inches (86 mm)Width (Including handle) : 6.38 inches (162 mm)Weight : 8.4 oz (238 g)Country/Region of Manufacture : Tokoname City, Aichi Prefecture, JapanOthers : Dishwasher, microwave and oven not available. ・About this item This kyusu is made in Tokoname, one of the leading kyusu production areas in Japan. The design is hand-painted. This kyusu has a space between the kyusu body and the tea strainer to prevent clogging. This tea strainer allows hot water to flow over the entire tea leaf, so you can enjoy the true flavor and aroma of different tea leaves. Since this kyusu is made of ceramic, no detergent is needed to wash it. Just wash it with water or hot water. If you are worried about tea stains, use baking soda. Also, the tea strainer cannot be removed. It is not impossible, but it is difficult to reattach. Please wash the tea strainer gently with a toothbrush to prevent it from coming off. Please do not use a metal scrubbing brush. ・Differences in taste, aroma, and ease of cleaning depending on the type of tea strainer (16th and 17th photos). The tea strainer for this kyusu is Sawayaka-ami. ・Ita-ami and Sawayaka-ami (Top left of 16th photo / Type of tea strainer inside the spout)This is the most common tea strainer in Japan. It comes in a variety of designs and sizes. Good balance of taste, aroma, and ease of cleaning. However, if the tea leaves become clogged, it becomes difficult to pour tea. I would recommend this type of tea strainer to those who are looking for a balance of tea taste, aroma and ease of cleaning. It can be used for both deeply steamed (fukamushi) and lightly steamed (asamushi) tea. ・Kago-ami (Top right of 16th photo / Basket type tea strainer)This is a tea strainer that is very easy to clean. However, it tends to taste thin because the tea leaves are difficult to spread. I would recommend this type of tea strainer to those who value cleanliness and want to enjoy tea casually. However, kago-ami is suitable for iron teapots called nanbutekki. ・Obi-ami (Bottom left of 16th photo / Belt-type tea strainer)This is a tea strainer that is attached to the inside of the kyusu like a belt. It pours tea smoothly to the last drop. I would recommend this type of tea strainer for those who want to focus on the original taste and aroma of the tea. I recommend it especially for those who like strong tea. It can be used for both deeply steamed (fukamushi) and lightly steamed (asamushi) tea. ・Soko-ami (Bottom right of 16th photo / Type of tea strainer near the bottom)This is a tea strainer attached near the bottom of the kyusu. The second and third cups of Japanese tea taste better if the tea leaves are not soaked in hot water in the kyusu after the first cup is poured. This type of tea strainer has a space at the bottom to separate the tea leaves from the hot water. This makes the second and third cups tastier. I would recommend this type of tea strainer for those who want to focus on the original taste and aroma of the tea. It can be used for both deeply steamed (fukamushi) and lightly steamed (asamushi) tea. However, this type of tea strainer is few in number and limited in design and size. ・Tousei-ami (Top left, top right and bottom left of 17th photo.)This is a tea strainer that is integrated into the Kyusu. When used for tea with fine tea leaves, such as deep steamed (fukamushi) tea, the tea leaves will also go into the cup or bowl with the tea. This is for large leaf tea, such as gyokuro or lightly steamed (asamushi) tea. ・Shiboridashi (Bottom right of 17th photo.)This is not a tea strainer, but rather a structure for straining tea through the gap between the rim of the kyusu and the lid. When used for tea with fine tea leaves, such as deep steamed (fukamushi) tea, the tea leaves will also go into the cup or bowl with the tea. This is for large leaf tea, such as gyokuro or lightly steamed (asamushi) tea. This type of kyusu also makes it easy to dispose of the tea leaves. It is very easy to throw away. If you want a kyusu that can be used for any type of tea while enjoying the true taste and aroma of tea, I would recommend Ita-ami (Sawayaka-ami), Obi-ami, and Soko-ami. If you only drink gyokuro or lightly steamed (asamushi) tea, I would recommend Tousei-ami or Shiboridashi. ・Who I would recommend this kyusu to? I would recommend this kyusu to anyone who is particular about taste and aroma, but also values ease of cleaning. ・What is Tokoname? Tokoname is one of the leading ceramic production areas in Japan. Ceramics have been produced here since about 1100. A wide variety of ceramics are produced, but kyusu (teapot) is especially famous. ■About me■I am a Japanese living in Tokyo and I love to cook.
