Description: #190 A Shower Girl for April from the Doll of the Month series by Nancy Ann Storybook Dolls, frozen legs, jointed arms, painted black slippers. All original costume including striped taffeta gown, felt bonnet with ribbon trim, and umbrella. Pantalets beneath the dress. Doll is cleaned, arms restrung. Dress is cleaned and pressed. The umbrella had no handle, so the pipe cleaner is a replacement. It’s easily removed if you prefer. My daughter and I restore Nancy Ann dolls. See my other listings for the other Nancy Ann Dolls we have for sale. Nancy Ann Storybook Dolls were created by Nancy Ann Abbott, who started making dolls as gifts and gradually created an impressive national company, despite laws that restricted women from owning businesses. The oldest bisque dolls were made in the late 1930s through 1940s with fully jointed arms and legs. Bisque dolls with frozen legs came later. By the late 1940s, the dolls were entirely plastic. Due to the dolls' age, they are fragile, and the fabric may be imperfect. However I make sure to note any flaws I see, as well as any repairs we have made.
